The first batch of horses imported by the MTC Sports and Leisure Ltd landed at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport from South Africa on Saturday February 18. It consists of 15 new horses who will compete this year.
The two best competitors are Captain Lannister and Super Excited. Captain Lannister will be trained by Shyam Hurchund. He is a three-time winner who competed at the highest level in South Africa. Captain Lannister is a very good front runner. He nearly made it all in the WSB SA Derby (G1) as he was caught 100m from home by Red Saxon and Safe Passage.
Shyam Hurchund can also count on Conquer The Ennemy. He won two races and he races close to the pace before finishing strongly.
Trainer Samraj Mahadia will have a good horse for the big races with Super Excited. He won three times, and he finished fourth in G1, G2 and G3 races. Super Excited also ran in the WSB SA Derby (G1) and he finished fourth behind Captain Lannister. He is a strong finisher. Vartacus, who is still a maiden, will also be one to follow from this stable.
We must keep an eye on Love On Time and Secret Oasis. They are two strong front-runners who will be trained by Shirish Narang.
