A thirtysomething resident of the Les Guibies, Pailles area can’t believe it. On Tuesday May 30, he received a letter in the post from the Traffic Branch’s Photographic and Enforcement Device Unit (PEDU) informing him that his motorcycle had been ticketed for speeding in Camp de Masque on May 21, 2023. The catch is that this man’s two-wheeled machine has been sleeping in the garage for five years. He entered the Pailles police station as a preventive measure on the afternoon of Sunday June 4.
It was around 5 p.m. on Sunday June 4 that this 36-year-old man went to Pailles police station to make a Precautionary Measure on this case. He explained that he was the owner of a blue Suzuki motorcycle, with a license plate number. This two-wheeled machine, he claimed, had not been in working order for five years.
On Tuesday May 30, he took delivery of a letter at the Pailles post office from PEDU, stating that on May 21, 2023 at 4:32 p.m., his motorcycle had been speeding in Camp de Masque, Flacq. As he no longer uses this motorcycle, which has broken down, he went to the PEDU office to enquire about the situation on Friday June 2. After making a payment of Rs 100, he was shown a picture of the day the offence was committed. However, the picture showed a Haojue motorcycle, whereas his is a Suzuki. He also pointed out that the Haojue motorcycle used his license plate number. He pointed out that he had been refused a printed copy of this photo.
