Authorities in Mauritius believe there is a cholera outbreak aboard a Norwegian Dawn paquebot. Actually, the cruise ship is located near the mouth of Port-Louis. The paquebot was supposed to stop in Reunion o Friday. But according to the Prefecture of Reunion, the cruise ship has several sick people on board, and has decided to cancel its stopover foling the announcement of tests to be carried out on passengers.
On Sunday morning, the Mauritian health authorities are on board to conduct blood tests on fifty passengers. From the Ministry of Health’s perspective, one must wait at least 48 hours to receive the results.
It is important to know that this paquebot started its journey from Cape Town in South Africa before reaching Madagascar. He needed to get to the island of Réunion. However, as per the information website Réunion la Première, the prefecture has declined to accept his arrival. It was supposed to dock there, but he arrived earlier, exactly eighteen hours after he was turned away from the island of La Réunion.
There are 1026 crew members and 2184 passengers on board the “Norwegian Dawn.” Approximately two thousand travellers would have ended their journey by arriving in Maurice this morning. It was planned that 2,279 additional passengers will board the ship in Port-Louis today.Ils devront être relogés dans des établissements hôteliers disponibles.
For the time being, the Mauritian authorities say they are awaiting the results of the tests before deciding what to do next.
