This project to strengthen the staffing of our health service was again discussed in Parliament on Tuesday 07 December. The Minister was responding to MMM Member, Franco Quirin and announced that the Ministry of Health is finalising the recruitment of 75 nurses and 35 doctors. He explained that this urgent recruitment was to constitute 6 medical teams and each would comprise 2 anaesthetists, 2 emergency nurses, 2 nurses and 2 nurses. The 6 teams will be spread across the 5 regional hospitals and the ENT Hospital treatment centre.
The All Inclusive Package of USD 5,200 will be allocated to doctors with less than 15 years of experience and the All Inclusive Package of USD 5,700 to those with more than 15 years of practice. For nurses, the salary will be Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 for specialist nurses. As ‘Expats’, they will be entitled to the accommodation provided by the Ministry.
