“Exceptional situation requires exceptional measures,” said Ajay Guness, the chairman of the MMM’s Education Committee. He held a press conference this afternoon.
He recalled that the L’Espoir platform was the first to raise the importance of making exceptions this year because the school year has not been normal. One of these exceptions was to allow students who had only three credits go up to Lower Six. Since then, he said, various personalities, including the Ombudsperson for Children, have made the same appeal.
Ajay Guness justified his appeal by the fact that Covid-19 affected poorer children. This is the reason why, said Guness, the MMM reiterates its demand that exceptional consideration be given to children. He added that, in the long term, the MMM proposes that students who have obtained 4 credits should be able to go up to HSC, but also those who have obtained 3 credits if they are at their second attempt. He underlined that in these cases, the students would be allowed to do only 2 subjects at principal level.
