Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne tendered her resignation and that of her government to Emmanuel Macron on Monday January 8, the Élysée announced in a press release.
In a message on X, Emmanuel Macron thanked the head of government “wholeheartedly” for her “exemplary” work in the “service of the Nation”. Élisabeth Borne and her team will remain in office until the new government is appointed.
In recent days, the two names that kept coming up for the post of Prime Minister in this long-awaited reshuffle were Sébastien Lecornu and Julien Denormandie.
