A father, his two sons and another family member were brought before the Flacq court this Friday morning, February 10, on a provisional charge of rebellion. They were arrested during the day on Thursday, February 9 by elements of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Flacq. The four suspects, Louis Dylan Babet, 29 years old, Louis Donovan Jason Babet, 31 years old, their father Louis Guito Babet, 53 years old and Jacques Jean François Babet, 46 years old, violently attacked two police officers in the early evening of Wednesday, February 8 at Route Royale, La Boutique Coco, Riche-Mare.
It was during a police operation mounted by the men of Inspector Moosun of the CID of Flacq during the day of Thursday, February 9 that the four members of this family living in La Boutique Coco, Riche-Mare were arrested. They were then placed in a cell at the police station of Flacq. After their appearance before the court of Flacq, they were maintained in police cell.
It was around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, when two police officers were on patrol on the main road of Riche-Mare. At a certain moment Dylan Babet who was wanted for a theft case was spotted. His brother Donovan who was with him had to shout, “Dylan b… bann missie la sa”. Indeed the suspect had to take his legs in the direction of Argy. A chase started for about a hundred meters and the suspect was caught and arrested. To the police officer he said, “less mo ale missie demin mo pou vinn biro CID”. Donovan Babet and François Babet arrived at the scene in an aggressive manner. They tried to force Dylan Babet out of the hands of the police officer. At the same time Dylan Babet bit the police officer on his right forearm. The police officer continued to exercise control over him.
His brother Donovan and François Babet tried to free him as he was being led to the police vehicle. Reinforcement was requested. The father of the two youths and François Babet managed to pull him out of the police vehicle. The father had to give a motorcycle helmet to his son Dylan who used it to threaten to break the windshield of the police vehicle and assault the two policemen. They were all able to escape.
One of the two slightly injured officers was taken to Flacq Hospital for treatment.
