It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Iswardeo Seetaram, former speaker. Mr. Seetaram served as speaker from December 4, 1990, to January 11, 1996. He departed this life while accompanying his wife to India for medical treatment. His unexpected passing has left a void in the hearts of many.
His body will be repatriated to-day and the funeral will take place at a later date, according to his son, Jim Seetaram.
Ishwardev Seetaram was Minister of Fisheries under Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam from 1976 to 1982. He was then Minister for Cooperatives between 1985 and 1988 under Sir Anerood Jugnauth. He also served as Speaker of the National Assembly from 1990 to 1995.
