For some time Jean Ludovique Félicité, 33, who lives in the Argy housing estate in Flacq, had been suspected of drug dealing. After receiving this information, a team from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Flacq division set up surveillance until an operation was carried out on Thursday 7 September at the suspect’s home. The operation resulted in the seizure of a resealable bag containing a quantity of cannabis, another bag containing fifteen cellophane packets with cannabis and the sum of Rs 12,000. The latter is suspected to have come from the sale of these drugs.
The Adsu team arrived at the suspect’s home with a search warrant at around 6.25am on Thursday 7 September. They found a resealable bag containing cannabis, fifteen cellophane wrappers containing the same drug and the sum of Rs 12,000 in various denominations. Adsu suspects that this money came from the sale of drugs.
Ludovique Félicité was taken into custody before being brought before the Flacq court. He was then taken back to his cell at Rose Belle police station after the police objected to his release on parole.
