The case related to the election petition at number 15 was called in the Supreme Court this morning, before Justices Benjamin Marie Joseph and Ratna Seetohul-Toolsee. The legal representative of the Electoral Supervisory Commission, Mr. Rishi Pursem, asked that the report of the Deputy Master and Registrar, following the verification exercise of the grey boxes, carried out on Friday, August 9 at the Special Mobile Force, be filed in court. He added that only after the findings are made known can the ESC make its position known. The next hearing is scheduled for 9 September. It should be recalled that it was the ESC that had requested a verification of the grey boxes. This was after Mr Anwar Moolan, another representative, acknowledged the existence of certain anomalies in the counting sheets used during the count in the La Caverne/Phoenix constituency. In his election petition, Cader Sayed Hossen asked for a recount between him and Gilbert Bablee. They are separated by only 49 votes.
