Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated this Friday, June 30. Mauritians of the Islamic faith have returned to their customs and traditions for the celebrations to mark Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most important festivities in the Muslim calendar. This festival, commonly referred to as “BakrEid”, symbolizes the sacrifice of Abraham, as recounted in the Holy Koran and the Bible. This festival has its origins in Abraham’s sacrifice to mark his loyalty to Almighty Allah (SWT). We caught up with Shaikh Ahmad Mubeen Ismael to find out more.
