To compensate for the 12 days of forced leave due to bad weather, there will be additional school days at the end of the first and second term. This was announced by the Minister of Education this afternoon. Leela-Devi Dookun-Luchoomun was in front of the press this afternoon to give details of the announcement of free preschool.
Minister Leela Devi Dookhun-Luchoomun also announced that a grant-in-aid scheme will be introduced for private pre-schools. Thus, for the pre-schools that will adhere to this grant-in-aid formula of the Ministry, the State will bear “the cost of the operation of the school” strictly following predefined criteria. As a reminder, this decision follows the announcement that pre-primary schools will be free of charge from 2024.
