The newly appointed Cabinet Ministers, Dr (Mrs) Marie Christiane Dorine Chukowry, and Dr Anjiv Ramdhany, took the oath of allegiance and oath of office before the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, yesterday afternoon, at the State House in Réduit. The Swearing-In Ceremony was held in the presence of the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.
Dr Chukowry was thus sworn in as Minister responsible for the portfolio of Commerce and Consumer Protection; and, Dr Ramdhany was sworn in as Minister responsible for the portfolio of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms.
Both newly appointed Ministers had served previously as Parliamentary Private Secretaries.
The Vice-President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boisézzon; the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, Minister of Tourism, Mr Louis Steven Obeegadoo; Vice-Prime Ministers and Ministers; the families of the new Ministers; and other personalities, were also present at the Swearing-In Ceremony.
The Member of Parliament, Mrs Marie Joanne Sabrina Tour, was appointed, today, as Deputy Chief Government Whip, by the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.
Sanjit Kumar Nuckcheddy, Sandra Mayotte, Subhasnee Luchmun-Roy and Soobeersingh Dhunoo are the new Parliamentary Private Secretaries. They have been appointed by the President of the Republic on Wednesday under Section 74 of the Constitution. As a reminder, Rajanah Dhaliah MP, who was acting as PPS, submitted his resignation after his name was mentioned in a case of alleged bribery.
