In the Rose Hill Magistrate’s Court this morning, Dominique Seedeeal, aka Darren Activist, was charged with participating in an unlawful assembly. He was informed by Magistrate Vignesh Ellayah that he is therefore facing two provisional charges, one for participating in an unlawful assembly and one for sedition. For the sedition charge, he has already been ordered by the Bail and Remand Court to pay a bail of Rs 15,000 and sign a debt recognizance of Rs 100,000. He was supposed to pay the bail on Monday. But in the Rose-Hill court this morning, Darren Activist was charged with participating in an unlawful assembly. Again, police did not object to his release. He had to pay a bail of Rs 2 000 and sign a debt recognizance of Rs 10 000. Let us recall that Darren Activist is accused of having posted a message on his Facebook page, on April 21, 2022, which the police believe could disrupt social order.
