(5th stage): The Frenchman Alexandre Jouin of Faucon Flacq SC-FKC won the fifth stage of the Tour of Mauritius this Friday in Grand Bassin in the time of 3h36’04 for the 125,8 km. He was ahead of the yellow jersey, Christopher Lagane of the MCB team by thirty-three seconds and the Frenchman Vincent Perroquin of the Haute-Savoie team who finished in the time of 3h37’14.
The peloton had decided to put pressure on Team MCB. Very early in the race, several breakaways were formed. Among them, the Frenchman Alexandre Jouin who found himself at the front.
Then on the climb from Bassin Blanc to Grand-Bassin, Alexandre Jouin went it alone.
Despite the efforts of Christopher Lagane to try to come back on Alexandre Jouin, the latter was able to hold on until the end to offer himself the most prestigious victory on the queen event of this Tour of Mauritius 2021.
Christopher Lagane keeps his yellow jersey.
The sixth stage takes place this Saturday morning at 9:30 am on the circuit of Sorèze.
