Is this the resumption of the series of mass infections among students? In any case, on the second day of the resumption of classes, several cases were reported in schools of the Diocesan Service of Catholic Education (SeDEC) and at the Emilienne Rochecouste Government School, in Quatre-Bornes where more than twenty students had to be sent home.
Parents are already panicking on Tuesday, February 8. A teacher of Kreol Morisien and Mandarin in grade 3 has tested positive and so the students she teaches have been sent home. Official communications state that the established protocol has been followed and that the classroom has been disinfected. The same return from SEDEC, the sanitary protocol is activated at each detection. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Education said that the teacher had no direct contact with her students. Classes will resume normally on Wednesday 9 February. However, parents who have been contacted to collect their children are very worried about the resumption of this trend of contamination among students but also about the absence of the Testing Team that the Minister of Education had promised when announcing the general resumption at the end of January. They also blame the Ministry and the schools for not being as strict in respecting the strict barrier measures ordered by the Ministry of Education for the general resumption.
