They were over 60 years old. Sequencing for the period 23 January to 13 February shows 3 cases of Delta and 68 cases of Omicron, including 2 from Rodrigues.
1710 local cases by PCR
Cases of COVID-19 are increasing. While the Ministry’s communiqué for the week reported 1710 local cases detected by PCR tests and 66 imported cases, the communiqué announced 257 positive cases. But Dr Soobaraj Sok Appadu, the National COVID-19 Coordinator, said that the daily report from the COVID-19 Testing Centre in the 5 regional hospitals shows a range of 2,500 to 4,000 new positive cases. These would be the results of the Rapid Antigen Tests and these cases are asked to be seen by a doctor to get the necessary medication for their treatment and the medical certificate for their self-isolation.
Admissions and vaccinations
In New ENT, 14 patients were admitted in the past week. Of the 7 who are under artificial respiration, 4 were vaccinated with 2 doses and 3 were not vaccinated. And the same rate for the other 7 on oxygen. The weekly communiqué also announces 290 admissions in the 5 regional hospitals. According to the daily communiqué, there are 41 admissions in the 5 regional hospitals and 7 in the New ENT Hospital. 56 people are currently in quarantine.
Vaccination is progressing with 997,948 people administered a first dose, 959,481 for the second dose and 481,614 for the third dose, including 237,412 at Johnson & Johnson, 8801 at Sinopharm, 2825 at Astrazeneca, 197,465 at Pfizer and 35,111 at Moderna. The adolescent campaign recorded 73,636 students for the first dose and 63,076 for the second. In Rodrigues, 72.74% of the population is primo vaccinated, 70.71% received a second dose and 9776 people received the third dose

With 6,365 cases cured, Rodrigues currently has 1,921 active cases. On the other hand, the number of deaths has already passed the 15 marks, with 1 additional death on Thursday 24 February.
