Covid 19 : 2 Deaths And 21 Admissions

While the rate of admissions dropped by 6 this week, the number of deaths rose to 2. The trend is downwards for positive cases in Mauritius with 12 less, that is 116 cases this week as compared to 128 last week. But in Agaléga, the rate of positive cases has risen to 134 and remains at 115.

There are 29 more cases among locals, with the figure of 111 rising to 130. The other 4 are Indian nationals. Now, the New ENT Hospital has 21 patients. 1 fully vaccinated patient is on ventilation, 10 patients are on oxygen of which 4 are fully vaccinated and 1 partially and 5 are not vaccinated. 100 people are admitted to the ward. The deceased patients were over 60 years old, unvaccinated and had comorbidities.

Vaccination to date

Vaccination remains on track with 1,013,918 people having received their first dose and the second dose rate is 980,038. For Booster Dose I, 240,203 people have been inoculated with Johnson & Johnson, 8,816 with Sinopharm, 2,825 with Astra Zeneca, 272,539 with Pfizer and 112,315 with Moderna. For Booster Dose II, 15,004 people were inoculated with Pfizer, 390 with Moderna, 9 with Johnson & Johnson and 1 with Sinopharm. For the adolescent campaign, 75,803 received the first dose of Pfizer and 69,804 the second dose. For the pediatric dose, i.e. pupils aged 5 to 11 years, the Ministry announced a total of 12,895 children inoculated for the first dose and 10,193 for the second.

In Rodrigues, 76.25% of the population received the first dose, 72.87% the second and 15,610 the third.
