Deaths cases have reduced from 4 in last week’s count to 1 this week. The trend is down on all counters. For positive cases, this week, the Minister records a decrease by 52 cases from 180 to 128 via PCR tests. The cases in Agaléga remain at 115.
President Roopun appeals to the population to get inoculated with their second booster dose
The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, and the personnel of the State House, were inoculated with their second booster dose, today, in Réduit. The Vice-President, Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boissezon, and the Director of Health promotion and Research, Dr Sudhir Kowlessur, were present on the occasion.
In a statement, President Roopun called upon the population to get inoculated with their second booster dose as it will reinforce their immunity system.
115 cases in Agaléga
The New ENT Hospital has 27 patients admitted during the week, i.e. 3 less than last week. 2 are ventilated, 1 fully vaccinated, 5 patients are oxygenated, 1 fully vaccinated, 1 partially vaccinated and 3 not vaccinated. 20 people were admitted to the ward. The deceased patient was over 70 years old, unvaccinated and had comorbidities.
In Agalega, 111 are local cases and 4 are Indian nationals. These are Rapid Antigen test results. They estimate 4 active cases
Vaccination to date
Vaccination remains on the increase with 1,013,256 people having received their first dose and the rate of the second dose is 979,422. For Booster Dose I, 240,203 people have been inoculated with Johnson & Johnson, 8,816 with Sinopharm, 2,825 with Astra Zeneca, 270,900 with Pfizer and 109,592 with Moderna. For Booster Dose II, 14,313 people were inoculated with Pfizer, 390 with Moderna, 9 with Johnson & Johnson and 1 with Sinopharm. For the adolescent campaign, 75,787 received the first dose of Pfizer and 69,788 the second dose. For the pediatric dose, i.e. pupils aged 5 to 11 years, the Ministry announced a total of 12,892 children inoculated for the first dose and 10,151 for the second.
In Rodrigues, 76.25% of the population received the first dose, 72.87% the second and 15,610 the third.
