The Labour Party is calling for the dismissal of the Central Electricity Board (CEB). At a press conference on Friday 29 September, Arvin Boolell MP focused on the contract awarded to Corex Solar International by the CEB.
The award of a Rs 5 billion contract to CorexSolar International Ltd, denounced by Mauritius Militant Movement MP Joanna Bérenger on Saturday 16 April, is at the heart of a controversy. At the press conference, Arvin Boolell also stressed that “it is essential to disclose all information relating to important issues, for greater transparency”.
The leader of the Labour Party in Parliament also deplored the fact that the report prepared in the past on the Freedom of Information Act had remained in a drawer.
The introduction of this bill is essential on the issue of transparency, according to Arvin Boolell.
Global Innovation Index report: ‘Mauritius has fallen 12 places, we are in freefall,’ warns Dr Arvin Boolell
The leader of the Labour Party commented on the Global Innovation Index Report, published by the World Intellectual Property Right Organisation on Thursday 28 September.
Dr Arvin Boolell said that Mauritius had fallen 12 places. In 2022, we were in 45th place, and a year later we plummeted to 57th place. “This is a total decline,” lamented the MP.
Dr Arvin Boolell adds that the Mauritian government has lost its competitiveness in the region because, in his view, it operates in an opaque manner.
