The United States-based scientist, Andrew Huff, has revealed Covid was a man-made virus that leaked from a research lab in China’s Wuhan.
The New York Post reported, quoting the US-based scientist’s statement, Covid virus came out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), a state-run and funded research institution, two years ago.
Huff, who had worked at a controversial research lab at Wuhan, in his latest book, “Truth About Wuhan”, says that the virus schemed under the US Government’s funding of coronavirus in China.
As per the New York Post, Andrew Huff is the former vice president of the EcoHealth Alliance based in New York, a non-profit New York-based organization that examines infectious diseases.
According to the New York Post, Huff in his latest book wrote that China ran experiments with poor security arrangements that led to the virus leaking from the Wuhan lab.
Since the pandemic, Wuhan has become the center of a tussle over the origins of Covid-19 across the globe as China’s government officials and scientists at the research lab have been claiming that the virus was not created in the lab.
Huff in his book said, “Foreign laboratories did not have the adequate control measures in place for ensuring proper biosafety, biosecurity, and risk management, ultimately resulting in the lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology”.
The Ecohealth Alliance has been studying the variations of coronaviruses in bats for almost a decade now. The research was funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Alliance has developed close relations with the Wuhan lab.
The National Institute of Health is a primary agency under the United States government, that is tasked with biomedical and public health research.
The US-based scientist, who worked at EcoHealth Alliance from 2014 to 2016, said that the Wuhan lab was working to develop the “best existing methods to engineer bat coronaviruses to attack other species.”
“China knew from day one that this was a genetically engineered agent. The US government is to blame for the transfer of dangerous biotechnology to the Chinese”, Huff wrote in his book.
“I was terrified by what I saw. We were handing them a bioweapon”, Huff said to the British newspaper The Sun, according to the New York Post.
The New York Post has further reported that as per a recent investigation into the case, WIV is the center for the riskiest coronavirus research in China, as published by ProPublica/Vanity Fair.
The research institution, with limited resources, is under the pressure from the Chinese Communist Party to renew its global status with a scientific breakthrough.
