BA2063 from London to Mauritius turned round over central Egypt. The aircraft had a technical problem. The British Airways plane, which was on its way to Mauritius, turned back while in Egyptian airspace. The plane had more than 100 passengers on board. The Boeing 777 left Gatwick Airport at around 7.30pm on Tuesday night for what should have been a 12-hour, 6,050-mile flight south of the Equator, At around midnight, when the technical problem was noted, the pilot turned the plane around. As a result, passengers who were due to fly to Mauritius found themselves back in England, while those waiting for the plane here must be patient.
