The Private Prosecution challenge, lodged by Pandit Vivek Pursun against Maneesh Gobin and Rajanah Dhaliah, was called before the Supreme Court on Monday, October 23. The case has been adjourned until next Monday. Vivek Kanum Pursun is accusing the Attorney General and the former Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS), Rajanah Ravi Dhaliah, of having acted in concert on 12 September 2020 to allocate 250.76 hectares of State land at Dayot and Mangin to the Eco Deer Park Association. This was in return for a bribe of Rs 3.5 million. He also accused Maneesh Gobin of trying to pervert the course of justice by not resigning from his post as minister.
In a recent hearing, Vivek Pursun’s Leading Counsel Sanjeev Teeluckdharry hinted at in the Supreme Court that the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is to be included as Co-Respondent in the Private Prosecution.
