Students should be encouraged to continue their studies according to Olivier Bancoult, president of the Chagos Refugee Group. An official ceremony was held this Saturday at the headquarters of the association to reward the SC students who passed their exams. For Olivier Bancoult it is a good thing that a good percentage of students with parents or grandparents from Chagos passed their exams. Philip Ah-Chuen of Allied Motors spoke about the importance of education.
“It is no secret that the key to success is education. I am very happy to present these awards to the children or grandchildren of Chagos descendants,” said Olivier Bancoult.
He thanked the NGO Solidarité Marié Piker and Allied Motors and also the Association Pense toi. This group has been helping the children of the Chagossians throughout their primary and secondary education since 2001, Olivier Bancoult stressed.
