Louis Roger Horace Quirin, a 57-year-old cattle farmer, who was in the sights of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of the Eastern Division, was arrested on Thursday, August 5, at his home in Palmar on a drug trafficking charge. This man, who had already been arrested in the past for a drug offence, was found in possession of 1452.19 grams of cannabis and 1110 seeds of this drug, all with a street value of Rs 600 000.
It is on the basis of certain information that this team of the ADSU, led by the chief inspector Bhoraj Seeballuck, landed at his home for a search. This information turned out to be true. In addition to the drugs, these police officers also seized an electronic scale and 10 sheets of cellophane paper, which they suspect were used to wrap drugs.
Roger Quirin was taken into custody for the night. On Saturday morning, August 6, he was brought before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) in Port-Louis. As the police objected to his release, he was taken back to the police cell.
