The proposals put forth by Business Mauritius, an independent association that represents over 1200 local businesses, were discussed during the 2022/23 pre-budget consultations held, this afternoon, in Port-Louis. The Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, thus met with the President of Business Mauritius, Mr Jean-Pierre Dalais, and other representatives including the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kevin Ramkaloan, and the Chief Operating Officer, Mr Pradeep Dursun.
In a statement, Mr Dalais qualified the consultations with the Finance Minister and the team from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development as productive. Main strategic thrusts were enumerated during the meeting which the private sector consider important for the economic development of the country, he explained. We also discussed pressing aspects on the short term against the backdrop of the complex situation on the global front, he indicated.
Additionally, Mr Dalais pointed out that now is the time to go in more details to deepen each topic discussed and move forward not only a budget that will be positive for the country but also for the implementation of the budgetary measures in the second phase.
It is recalled that Business Mauritius is the coordinating body and the voice of local business, and delivers services that sustain the progress of both business and community.
