A fire started in the engine of a United Bus Service (UBS) Ltd bus on Caroline Road, Chitrakoot, Vallée des Prêtres. The flames quickly spread throughout the vehicle. The vehicle was completely ravaged. After the capital’s fire department had extinguished the blaze, all that remained of the vehicle was a pile of charred iron.
At around 11 a.m., a fire broke out on board the bus, which was travelling on Route de Caroline, Chitrakoot, Vallée des Prêtes near Route Valmicky. The burning vehicle had stopped near a bus stop. The vehicle was driven by a 44-year-old driver from Le Hochet, Terre Rouge.
Technicians from the Central Electricity Board were dispatched to the scene to ensure that the electrical network in the area had not been affected by the flames, which had risen several meters.
