The case concerning the police commissioner’s challenge to Bruneau Laurette’s release on bail was called before Chief Justice Rehana Mungly-Gulbul on Monday. The former activist and now leader of One Morris filed a second affidavit. This was in response to the police commissioner’s 5th affidavit dated 26 May. The police commissioner’s legal representatives, Ravi Yerrigadoo and Shamila Sonah-Ori, have asked for more time to study the document. The boss of the Central Barracks may respond to Bruneau Laurette’s arguments with a new affidavit.
Bruneau Laurette immediately concluded that he was in danger of being falsely accused after receiving calls over WhatsApp from abroad. Because he is required to refrain from communicating with anyone outside the prison as a condition of his release on bail.
Bruneau Laurette sixth sense told him to be careful. Instead, he went to the Pope Hennessy police station and made a note of a precaution. He claimed that he was certain that individuals were making every effort to send him back to prison. He even claimed that the caller’s profile photo was the Mauritius Telecom emblem. He was prompted to respond by doing this.
