BPF Investigates Four-Month-Pregnant Teen

Must Read

Since Thursday, May 18, the Brigade for the Protection of the Family (BPF)  is investigating the case of a 15-year-old girl, four months pregnant, who went to the hospital Dr. A.G. Jeetoo, Port-Louis. But when a team of police officers went to meet this girl, she was not there. She was also nowhere to be found at her home in cité Riche-Bois.

After being informed that a 15-year-old girl, four years pregnant, was at the Dr Jeetoo hospital for treatment.  A team of police officers from the Brigade for the Protection of the Family immediately went to the scene at about 2:30 pm on Thursday, May 18.

But when the police arrived, the teenager, who was in the company of her mother, had already left. These police officers who had the address of this patient were to go thereafter to her home in cité Roche-Bois. Mother and daughter were absent.

An entry for “allowing child to be sexually abused” was inserted in the diary book of the Roche-Bois police station.

In addition, a 22 year old woman reported her 45 year old mother living in state land, Cité La Cure for abusing her 17 year old brother. The latter, who is otherwise physically and mentally capable, is often abandoned by his mother.

The young woman who made a statement at the police station in Abercrombie, St. Croix on the evening of Thursday, May 18, said she informed the Child Development Unit (CDU) of the Ministry of Gender Equality of this case.

She explained that her brother is bedridden and lives under the same roof as her mother. Very often she said her mother abandons her brother for up to three weeks. This time, since her mother left, she has not returned. During this time, she informed the CDU office to this effect.  Officers came to visit her brother and they could see in what condition he lives.

Her brother was taken in charge by the CDU and taken to Dr. Jeetoo Hospital where he is under observation.
