An investigation was initiated by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) of the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID) and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Bambous to investigate the circumstances under which John Steeven Louis, a 31-year-old helper, drowned at the La Ferme à Bambous Reservoir. The body of this resident of the village was recovered around 11:30 am on Tuesday morning, July 26. An autopsy performed by Dr. Ananda Sunnassee, Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to asphyxiation due to drowning.
It was during a search operation at the back of Avenue Folles Herbes in Camp Rodrigues, Bambous that the body of Steeven Louis was found floating in the water in the reservoir of La Ferme about ten meters from the shore. The body was fished out of the reservoir by elements of the Special Mobile Force on the instructions of Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, the head of the forensic department of the police, to be transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital, Candos.
The funeral of Steeven Louis took place this Wednesday, July 27 at 11 am. After the funeral ceremony at the church of Saint Sauveur, Bambous, he was buried in the parish cemetery.
