The MSM held its press conference on this Saturday 19th February 2022 at the Sun Trust. Along with the government spokesman Bobby Hurreeram, Gilbert Bablee and Subhashnee Luchmun-Roy were also present for the weekly press conference of the Militant Socialist Movement.
Bobby Hurreeram, being the first one to address the press members, stated that “Mauritius is among the 21 countries that are classified as full democracies, according to a report made by the Economist Intelligence Unit. According to the 2020-2021 report, Mauritius is the only country in Africa that is on this list.”
“The report states that Mauritius received 9.17 out of 10 as far as our Electoral Process is concerned. We are on par with the United States and we are doing better than Japan and South Korea,” said Bobby Hurreeram, adding that the only criterion with the least point is Political Participation.
Gilbert Bablee stated that “with the urban terminal,, Vacoas is becoming Manhattan“. He said that the infrastructures works will be carried out on a surface of 8 acres in the heart of the city of Vacoas, including the largest Urban Terminal of the Metro Express project. « “Mauritius is like construction site, everywhere there is work to be done » he added..
Coming to MP Subhashnee Luchmun-Roy, she answering a question about the high rate of absenteeism in schools due to Covid-19. She stated that education is paramount and parents should not worry as long as health measures are respected. She also said that the start of the school year was a well-considered decision stating that “socialization is important for the good mental health of our children“. The MP also insists that it is time to learn to live with Covid-19.
