The leader of the Reform party has commented on the Budget 2023-2024. “Padayachy has shown no vision, no philosophy in his budget,” said Roshi Bhadain at a press conference on Friday alongside Patrick Belcourt of En avant Moris. For the Reform Party leader, one of the questions after the 2023-2024 Budget is this: “Where is the money coming from?” He pointed out that the additional Rs 20 billion that has come into the state coffers comes from VAT. This means that all Mauritians have paid. He also said that the money given to the population came from the Contribution Social Generalisée. “Padayachy’s figures confirm that there has been squeezing of workers and consumers. Today, he is taking money from the worker and the consumer to increase the pension, for example”, he said. Roshi Bhadain promised that if the Reform Party-En avant Moris agreement comes to power, the CSG will be abolished.
