Justice Carol Green-Jokhoo has been appointed Chairperson of the Betamax Commission of Inquiry by President Pradeep Roopun. She will be assisted by Dr. Pushpawant Boodhun and Kodados Moufeter.
The objective of the investigation is to find out the circumstances under which Betamax got the “contract of affreightment” in 2011 and why the said contract was terminated in 2015.
It should be noted that a Privy Council judgment has been handed down to Betamax, which challenged a Supreme Court judgment that called into question an arbitration in Singapore in favor of Betamax.
As a reminder, five new Puisne Judges were appointed on Friday, August 21, 2020. Among them was Carol Green-Jokhoo, Assistant Solicitor General.
