Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has confirmed that she and Ben Affleck got married in Las Vegas on Saturday.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” Lopez wrote on her website. The wedding come 17 years after they called off their first engagement.
News of the Hollywood power couple getting back together last year sent fans into a tizzy. The couple publicly exhibited their rekindled relationship on social media. According to the BBC, the Clark County Clerk’s Office in Nevada – where Las Vegas is located – shows on its record system that Jennifer Lopez will change her name to Jennifer Affleck.
The OntheJLo website mentioned that the couple had flown to Las Vegas on Saturday and queued for a marriage licence alongside four other couples.
“They were right when they said, ‘all you need is love’,” Lopez wrote on her website. “We are so grateful to have that in abundance, a new wonderful family of five amazing children and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to.”
Having met on the sets of the the movie ‘Gigli’ in 2002, the couple got engaged in 2003 but broke up the following year due to what they claimed was “excessive media attention”.
However, since getting back together, they have regularly posted photos and videos online of romantic holidays and moments with their families – prompting fans to reactivate the couple’s former portmanteau nickname Bennifer, reported the BBC.
Lopez was married to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014 and share two children together. This will be her fourth marriage while Affleck was married Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018 and has three children with her.
