The body of Alberto Richard Lajeune, the 50-year-old was found on the morning of January 16 in Tamarin after the Super U supermarket in Tamarin in the direction of Cascavelle. The Rose-Hill resident had left his home early on the morning of Monday January 15 to take up his job as a security guard in Rivière Noire. However, he never returned home that afternoon.
After the torrential rain that fell all over the country during the day on Monday January 15, his prolonged absence worried his relatives even more. A missing persons report was even filed at the Rose-Hill police station. His daughter Elodie even posted a distress message on facebook asking anyone who might have news of her father to get in touch with the family. Richard Lajeune left Rivière Noire at around 1pm on his motorcycle to return home.
Members of the public discovered his body and alerted the police. His body was then taken to the morgue at Victoria Hospital, Candos, for an autopsy. The autopsy, carried out by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the police forensic department, attributed his death to a dislocation of the spinal column in the neck.
Richard Lajeune was married with three children. His funeral is scheduled for Friday, January 19. The funeral ceremony will take place at the Church of Sainte Anne in Stanley, followed by burial at the Saint Jean Cemetery in Quatre Bornes.
The body of 53-year-old Anwar Noormahomed Rehaz Noormahomed was autopsied on Tuesday morning, January 16. The cause of death was attributed to intracranial haemorrhage. The security guard from Les Guibies, Pailles was returning home on the Pailles freeway at around 11am on Monday January 15. The motorcycle he was riding was reportedly hit by a vehicle. In his fall, he was swept away by the water, which poured down the highway like a torrent.
