Hossain MD Milon, a 36-year-old mason of Bangladeshi nationality, who was arrested and placed in the detention center of Le Chaland in Plaine-Magnien, escaped from this place in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 02. He broke the lock of a window of one of the two rooms of this center to escape. The fugitive is being actively sought.
A statement about this escape case was made at the Plaine-Magnien police station shortly after 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 2nd. A police officer from the Passport and Immigration Office (PIO), stationed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport, related the circumstances of this escape.
This police officer explained that he was working in uniform at the detention center of Le Chaland at about 2:45 am on Wednesday, November 2, in the company of a corporal. He was conducting surveillance on 6 detainees in block 2, when he heard dogs barking in the yard. He went to the information and one of the inmates informed him that one of the inmates, who shared the same room, ran away. He immediately informed his colleague the corporal who was like the sentry in block 1. With him, they entered block 2 and there were only 5 inmates out of 6. They found that the window lock of this block was forced from inside and was broken. He and this corporal placed the 5 detainees in Block 1 before going to search for the fugitive.
Hossain MD Milon, who was in Mauritius illegally, was arrested by a team of police officers from the Chemin-Grenier police station on September 16. He was brought before the Souillac court the next day, September 17. Since then, he has been held in a cell at the Le Chaland detention center until his repatriation.
Men from the Field Intelligence Office, PIO, the Criminal Investigation Division of Plaine-Magnien, the Divisional Crime Intelligence Unit and the police dog were mobilized to find him.
