Maneesh Gobin, the Attorney General, issued a statement on Sunday, October 16, following the report of Magistrate Vidya Mungroo-Jugurnauth, regarding the death of Soopramanien Kistnen. Maneesh Gobin is “deeply concerned” that the “alleged findings” of the judicial inquiry into the death of Soopramanien Kistnen have found their way into the public domain. He plans to ask the police commissioner to open an investigation to see if there was a conspiracy. He will also contact the chief judge to see if any members of the judiciary were at fault. He also invites the protagonists mentioned to take action. He insists that this report is submitted under seal by the district court concerned (in this case the court of Moka) to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
