Premier League: Liverpool Topple Man City, Arsenal Moves 4 Points Clear At The Top

Must Read

After a thrilling clash yesterday, Liverpool inflicted on Manchester City its first defeat of the season in the Premier League! In difficulty in recent months, the Reds played with intensity and worried the Citizens in the first half. But the difference was made in a crazy and totally undecided second half. As the ball went back and forth, Phil Foden was denied a goal for a foul by Erling Håland, and then Mohamed Salah (76th) made his mark to give the Mersey club the win by taking out Joao Cancelo on his control before beating Ederson.

Second in the standings, Manchester City let Arsenal take a 4-point lead at the top. Liverpool is now in 8th place, ten points behind their opponents.

Arsenal won for the ninth time in 10 Premier League games on Sunday at Leeds (1-0) to consolidate their position at the top. After a 40 minutes break due to a power cut, Mikel Arteta’s team had difficulties to develop their game but they could count on a new goal from Saka to make the difference (35th). The Peacocks pushed seriously in the second half but Ramsdale multiplied the saves in the goal, while Bamford shot wide a penalty after a hand of Saliba. The Gunners were hot!

Tottenham won a very quiet victory against Everton (2-0), this Saturday, on the occasion of the 11th day of Premier League. Tottenham were in total control on their home turf, and their domination was confirmed by a penalty from Harry Kane (59th) and a curled shot from Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg (86th). In the goal of the London club, Hugo Lloris had nothing to do as the Toffees did not hit a single shot (out of 4 attempts).

Leicester is living a complicated first part of the season. This Saturday, as part of the 11th day of the Premier League, the Foxes disappointed again by conceding a draw against Crystal Palace (0-0) at the end of a game not very exciting. Brendan Rodgers’ team created the best situations thanks to Barnes, Maddison and Daka, but did not manage to concretize them, while the Eagles were dangerous only once on a shot from Edouard.
