A request concerning a possible burglary in a grocery store in the area of Pailles allowed a team of police officers to arrest a notorious recidivist in the evening of this Thursday June 2. This suspect Dany Nicolas Baillache, a 37 year old mason and resident of the area, was found in possession of a tire iron. “Missie mo pe vinn rod enn lavi, vinn kokin sa bann zafer la. Les mo ale, mo p ape travay,” he told the police officers who caught him. He was collecting vegetables, fruit and soft drinks. The investigation established that he was committing theft in this locality with the complicity of his wife, who was also arrested and placed in detention.
It was around 10:30 pm on the evening of Thursday, May 2, that a team of police officers from the Pailles police station arrived at this grocery store, after being informed that a possible burglary was in progress. The metal curtain of this business was half open and the two padlocks were broken. These police officers had to immediately enter this grocery store, and found themselves face to face with Nicolas Baillache, who is known as a notorious recidivist in this region. The latter was armed with a tire iron measuring sixty centimeters. He was caught picking up fruits, vegetables and soft drinks in the blind of this grocery store. When questioned about his presence there, he had to say, “Missie mo pe vinn rod enn lavi, vinn kokin sa bann zafer la. Les mo ale, mo p ape travay”.
He was arrested and taken to the Pailles police station with the tire iron as evidence. His wife, who was standing guard while he was carrying out the burglary, was also apprehended. The couple was placed in a cell before being presented before the Port-Louis court on Friday, June 3. The husband and wife are still in detention.
The investigation in this case is led by Chief Inspector Thakurdial Seesarrun, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Gassen Govinda Reddi.
