Atma Shanto Arrested, Provisionally Charged And Bailed

Atma Shanto, president of the United Workers Federation, was summoned by the Port Louis South CID this morning. This summons was linked with a demonstration held on 13 June 2019 in front of the National Transport Authority office in Cassis. He was arrested and presented in the Port Louis District Court on a provisional charge of unlawful demonstration. Atma Shanto had to provide a bail of Rs 3000, court paper fee of Rs 1150 and signed an IOU of Rs 10,000. His next court appearance will be on 07 December.
