The first day counting for the relay festival organized by the Mauritian Association of Athletics (AMA) took place yesterday at the Sir Gaëtan Duval Stadium in Rose-Hill. It is without surprise that the representatives of the sister cities dominated the competition.
The clubs of Rose Hill AC, Beau Bassin AC, Stanley Trèfles AC, Quatre-Bornes Pavillon AC, Adonai Candos SC and Le Hochet AC were invited for this first day.
In the girls’ event, the sister city clubs took all the gold medals with Beau-Bassin AC winning the U10 and U12 4 x 50m and the U14 4 x 100m. Stanley Trèfles won the U18 medley relay while the U16 4 x 100m relay was won by Rose-Hill AC.
On the other hand, in the men’s category, the sister city clubs won the U10 and U12 4 x 50m relays with Beau-Bassin AC, the U14 4 x 100m. Rose-Hill AC shined in the U18 medley relay and the U16 4 x 100 m.
The 4 x 400m mixed relay was the business of Quatre-Bornes Pavillon AC in both the U20 and 20+.
The next day will concern the zone 2 and will take place on October 22 at the Germain Commarmond Stadium in Bambous starting at 9 am. The clubs of Guepard AC, Black River Star AC, Medine AC, Chemin Grenier AC, Port Louis Racers AC, Port Louis Centaurs AC, Roche Bois Éclair AC and Souillac AC will be in action.
