The men’s Team MCB won the bronze medal in the team time trial exercise this afternoon at the All-Africa Games. Alexandre Mayer, Christopher Rougier Lagane, Aurélien de Comarmond and Hanson Matombé combined their efforts to take bronze behind Eritrea and South Africa.
Earlier, the MCB Mauritius girls had won bronze on the same exercise.
Bronze for the Mauritians in the team time trial
Aurélie Halbwachs-Lincoln, Lucy de Marigny-Lagesse and Raphaelle Lamusse took third place on the podium in Ghana on Thursday.
With a time of 54’28 over 44.7 km, the Mauritians took third place behind Eritrea (52’31) and South Africa (52’31).
“This medal is worth more than gold. It was hard to come by. Fatigue from the last few races and minor health problems reduced our physical capacity. We’re happy to have been able to get on the podium,” said Aurélie Halbwachs-Lincoln.
Ketty Lent wins three gold medals
Ketty Lent won three gold medals yesterday in weightlifting in the -76 kg category at the All-Africa Games currently taking place in Ghana.
With performances of 91 kg in the snatch and 106 kg in the clean and jerk, the Mauritian achieved an Olympic total of 197 kg, 10 kg more than silver medallist Nihad Belounis from Algeria.
“The preparation was very tough. I was confident even though last week I wasn’t in good health. I’d like to thank my coaches, the national federation, Minister Stephan Toussaint, SBM and everyone who supported me during this competition,” she said.
