American actress Olivia Munn disclosed that she underwent four surgeries in the last ten months after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis last year.
The 43-year-old Newsroom actress revealed on Instagram that she has undergone multiple mastectomy procedures.
Despite being “aggressive” and “fast moving,” Munn claimed that the cancer was discovered with “enough time that I had options.” She went on to say that she “wanted to get through the hardest parts before sharing” the news with others.
Three days after going to the Oscars with her partner, comedian John Mulaney, Munn provided an update on her condition. The two have a two-year-old son.
The actress, who has been in films such as Iron Man 2, Magic Mike, and X-Men: Apocalypse, revealed that she had a mammogram and tested for 90 different cancer genes before learning about the disease.
Munn said that despite the negative results of those tests, her doctor had calculated her “breast cancer risk assessment score,” which prompted additional testing, including a biopsy, which revealed “I had Luminal B cancer in both breasts.”
She shared a video and images from the hospital along with her statement, writing: “Luminal B is a malignancy that moves quickly and aggressively. “Thirty days after that biopsy I had a double mastectomy. I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next.”
