A suspected smuggler of contraband was arrested on Tuesday. This followed the seizure of boat engines, numerous cartons of cigarettes, televisions, slot machines and ‘Barbara’ fish worth several million. They were located on land at La Preneuse, on the west coast. There were also other items.
The owner was unable to explain where they came from or how many there were. The police suspect that the items were destined for illegal trafficking abroad. The market value of the items seized is estimated at least Rs 5 million.
