It was like a trick that Alsaad Sheik Mohamodally, 38 years old, got rid of his handcuffs before fleeing from the police station of Floréal late Sunday afternoon, October 31. He was taken there following a shoplifting charge committed at the Intermart supermarket in Soflo, Floréal. The suspect, who lives in Malgalkhan Residence, Floréal, has been actively sought since then.
It was while a police officer was transcribing his statement on the Cots system that he took the opportunity to get rid of his handcuffs before running away. He left the police station through the main door and ran to the back of the building before disappearing into a bush. A police officer tried to chase him but was unsuccessful. A search was also initiated to find him.
A patrol was conducted in the vicinity of the police station, but to no avail. A police raid was also conducted at his home, but he was not there. The pair of handcuffs he had discarded were found on the floor of the police station. The Field Intelligence Office and the Divisional Supporting Unit were called in to help locate the fugitive. Police officers have reviewed several surveillance cameras in an effort to locate him.
The Floréal police are investigating the case.
