Hans Bheeca. This name may not mean much to you. But at the age of 21, this Mauritian photographer has seen one of his photos selected in the 18-25 years category during a competition organized by UNESCO. The theme of the exhibition was ‘The Silk Road’. The competition gathered 33 countries.
Hans is in his 3rd year of studying architecture. A passion that this resident of l’Escalier reconciles with photography: “My uncle is a professional photographer. He introduced me to photography when I was 10 years old. This passion has continued to grow over time.
On the contrary, it even became an asset during his studies: “Architects often have to take pictures on sites. My knowledge of photography helped me a lot.
For his participation in his first competition, Hans wanted to make a nod to culture: “I had sent 5 photos for this competition. In the end, it was the photo of an old lady with her sewing machine that caught the attention of the jury. Through this picture, I wanted to show that it is still possible to appreciate the sweetness of the past in the present.
