A 12-year-old girl from Debarcadère, Pointe aux Sables, was beaten up by her friends in the State Land area, Cité La Cure, in the early hours of Friday 28 July. Injured, she was taken to the Dr A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis, in form 58, for treatment.
In the presence of her mother, the little girl gave a statement at Abercrombie police station, Sainte Croix, on the morning of Friday 28 July. In her complaint she explained that at around 12.15am on Friday 28 July she was staying with a friend, whose first name she only knows, in State Land, Cité La Cure, when a group of young people came to meet her. She was invited to accompany them, but refused. She was then beaten all over her body. Her lips were injured.
She went to Dr Jeetoo Hospital with a form 58. In her complaint, made at around 11am on Friday 28 July, she stated that she was able to identify some of her friends, including a resident of Phoenix and two other residents of the state land Cité La Cure.
The case was referred to the Family Protection Brigade, which is trying to understand how a child of this age could not have been under her parents’ supervision.
