The Blood Donors Association (BDA) is pleased with the results of the Mega Blood Donation organized on Thursday by the Ministry of Equality and Gender in the municipality of Port Louis.
A total of 273 pints of blood were collected that day.
The BDA is pleased that the population continues to support the BDA’s request, despite the fact that many of the population are currently focused on the Covid-19 vaccination.
According to BDA leaders, the situation is not worrisome at the moment with regard to the quantity of blood available at the Blood Bank.
The BDA said note that the organization of this mega blood donation has received the support of the Ministry of Public Service. The Ministry had, in fact, invited civil servants to donate their blood to mitigate.
Indeed, the Ministry of Public Service asked the heads of departments of the various ministries to make the necessary arrangements so that the civil servants can free themselves to go and give blood on that day. The purpose of this gesture is to avoid that the Blood Bank is short of this precious liquid to save human lives. It should be noted that this Mega Blood Donation was also supported by the municipality of Port-Louis.
