With 74 new cases reported in Mauritius, Rodrigues remains Covid free. However, the vaccination campaign in Rodrigues is progressing. 718 Rodriguans remain stranded in Mauritius with a very low repatriation rate and certainly not before August 13.
As of Saturday 31 July, we have 67 asymptomatic patients, and 7 cases admitted for treatment at the ENT hospital. As of today, an estimation of 0.30% of the population has been infected with Covid-19. 683,642 people have received a first dose and 554,031 have been fully vaccinated.
The Hindu Girls College in Curepipe will remain closed on Monday 02 and Tuesday 03 August after a Grade 7 student has been tested positive. The college will be disinfected early this week.
At the last count, 15,065 people in Rodrigues have received a first dose and 9,887 people have received both. The island has been closed since March 7 and no Air Mauritius passenger flights to Plaine Corail airport except for a few official flights and repatriations, which are going very slowly until August 31.
