In the early hours of Tuesday morning, June 20, a Nissan car went off the road and collided head-on with a Central Electricity Board (CEB) electricity pylon on the Route Royale de Laventure, near the Pertaub beauty salon. The driver of the car, a 50-year-old policeman from Rivière des Créoles, and a 63-year-old man from Laventure were injured. Both were taken to the Dr Bruno Cheong hospital in Flacq for treatment. The policeman, who is assigned to the Divisional Supporting Unit (DSU) of the southern division, refused to take a breathalyzer test and was caught in the act.
The accident occurred at around 00:20 on Tuesday morning, June 20. The car was coming from Laventure in the direction of Flacq. At some point, the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a CEB pylon.
As the policeman was being taken to the Flacq police station for detention, after refusing to submit to an alcohol test, he complained of pain. He was taken to Flacq hospital for treatment.
